Azimuth Analysis
Azimuth Analysis LLC

Where AI and data analysis meet social impact.

For foundations picking grantees and colleges measuring outcomes: we make public data — IRS 990s, IPEDS, foundation reports — usable in a week, not three months.

What we do.

Azimuth builds products around social impact data. The information to answer almost any philanthropic question exists somewhere — in 990 filings, foundation reports, IPEDS, academic research, federal rosters. Accessing it has required large research teams or six-figure consulting engagements. Our bet is that it shouldn't.

Data you can actually follow

A real question — "which Chicago organizations work on veteran services, and who funds them at a program level?" — touches 990 filings, nonprofit websites, foundation reports, academic papers, and federal rosters. We build the links between those records, so you can follow the thread from a funder to what they fund to who else funds the same work.

The full breadth of the sector, without the team

The vision: products that let a nonprofit, a program officer, or a researcher use the full breadth of information available about the social impact sector — without a consulting engagement, a research department, or months of data engineering. Information access as a product, not a privilege.

Start with the problem.

Every Azimuth product starts with a partner facing a specific problem — scoping a veteran-services strategy, untangling what college actually costs, making foundation research legible to the nonprofits doing the work. AI and data infrastructure are how we solve them, not why we exist.

Where the thesis is being built.

Two active efforts, each testing a different version of the same bet: public data, done right, changes what's possible for the people using it.

Impact Intelligence Platform

Agentic search for the social impact sector.

In partnership with Emerald South, funded by an OpenAI grant, we're building the research layer philanthropy has been missing. AI and agentic search across 990 filings, foundation reports, and academic evidence — so nonprofits can scope programs faster, surface the funders whose strategy actually aligns with theirs, and raise the money to build what they've scoped. The first application: a full Chicago veteran-services landscape, assembled from public data in hours instead of months.

Foundation staff rethinking a strategy. Nonprofits building a program that needs to land with the right funders. College administrators trying to tell a real story about outcomes. If that sounds like what you're doing, send a note.
